About Carolyn Matheson, Master Certified Coach
To the outside world I am aware that I look as though I have everything together in my world. However the reality is very different. 6 years ago my world was turned upside when I became sick. I am still Carolyn but my whole approach to life is now different. I have integrated what I have learnt on the way as a coach with the emotional high and lows of a chronic illness.
I was totally unprepared for the emotional turmoil I faced when diagnosed with a serious illness. Coming through that dark space has been both tough and rewarding
Taking a deep breath I have made a choice to share my story with you in the hope that I can support one person at a time in how to deal with chronic illness. My illness no longer controls me. I have stepped up to the challenges I have been given and now want to share what I have discovered. What I have learnt is all that I needed was inside me, that given the space I had all my own answers.
I didn’t chose to get sick, but I can chose how I think about my illness each day
When I got sick I felt all my power had been stripped away from me. There are times when I have felt very lost. Doctors continue to provide me with all the medical care I need. I couldn’t ask for better doctors than I have right now. What I found I needed was to make huge adjustments to all parts of my life. Has it been hard? Yes of course it has. I have struggled with my headspace; struggled to make changes. I have found it difficult to cope with everyday life. Simple things I took for granted were and are often impossible for me.
My life as I knew it has changed beyond recognition. I am a far stronger person as a result of all that I have been through
I love my work. I am a professionally trained Master Certified Coach and facilitator, with 25 years experience. I have worked internationally in a wide range of business sectors. I am one of the world’s most senior coaches, and a leader in the global coaching community.
I want governments and doctors to view people with chronic illness as a whole person, not just manage the presenting illness and symptoms
As I have discovered, you can get your life back while dealing with chronic illness. I have faced many difficult challenges. I feel I have learnt so much about myself and whilst I didn’t choose to get sick, I am grateful for all that I have learnt. I no longer feel overwhelmed and have a sense of control back in my life. I have changed the way I live in every way; I live for each day now.
Whatever your reason for visiting me, I hope I will empower you to find a way to ‘Take Charge of your Health’
I no longer live up to what others want me to ‘be’. I do what is right for me.
